I lost my baby at 17 and left the hospital empty-handed.

There are memories that are imprinted on us like an invisible scar. At 17, she still thought she was safe from life's hardships, and yet, everything changed in a matter of weeks. When her partner learned of her pregnancy, he left without anger, without shouting, leaving behind a silence heavier than any reproach. She found herself alone, still a teenager, trying to be strong while fear never left her for a second.

Pretending to be strong in the face of accelerating events

She kept telling herself she'd get through it, that love would come later, that she had to keep going no matter what. But deep down, she was just winging it. Like so many  young women  faced with immense responsibilities too soon, she pretended to know, all the while secretly hoping for guidance. Then everything accelerated, too fast: the bright lights, the hurried voices, the feeling that the ground was giving way beneath her. They spoke to her using medical terms she barely understood, they told her to rest, and above all, they didn't give her the baby she'd been waiting for in silence for months.
