At first glance, this puzzle looks almost impossible. Three women are standing with their backs turned, and each has a different tattoo. There are no handcuffs, prison uniforms, or obvious clues. So how can anyone figure out who may have spent time in prison?
The fun part about logic puzzles like this is that they encourage us to slow down and pay attention to the little details. Sometimes the answer isn’t hidden in what’s most noticeable but in something that seems ordinary at first.
Let’s take a closer look at each woman.
Woman A has a beautiful mandala tattoo on her lower back. Mandalas are popular decorative designs that often symbolize balance, harmony, or personal growth. They’re very common in tattoo art and don’t really suggest anything unusual. While anyone can have this style of tattoo, there’s nothing here that strongly points toward a prison background.
Woman B has a butterfly tattoo. Butterflies are one of the most popular tattoo choices in the world. People often get them to represent freedom, transformation, or a fresh start after a difficult chapter in life. Ironically, someone leaving prison might choose a butterfly for that reason, but plenty of people who have never been in trouble choose the exact same design. On its own, it doesn’t tell us much.
