The thick air inside the courtroom pressed against my chest like a heavy block. For six whole years, I waited in seats just like this one while everybody labeled me a robber.
Six cold seasons, six warm seasons, six missed parties while unknown people gossiped about me. Each court date robbed me of another chunk of my spirit, up to the point where even my face in the mirror appeared totally at fault.
“I absolutely never believed you could pull off such a massive backstab,” Colin stated. “Colin, you were aware of the real facts regarding that room,” I spoke softly.
“The proof pointed the other way, and the judge took my side,” he shot back. “You stood right up there and claimed I faked your handwriting,” I stated. “I merely shared what I spotted inside the business books,” he barked.
“We grew that business side by side sitting at our tiny eating table,” I pointed out. “Plus you wrecked all of it during one single evening,” he fired back. “I never grabbed a single penny out of our combined money,” I pushed back.
“You acted as my partner and my closest buddy for ten years,” I mentioned. “Plus you acted as my teammate right up until you turned greedy,” he stated.
“I was absolutely never greedy, I only ever stayed true to you,” I replied. “Staying true absolutely does not include emptying a business bank stash,” he shot back. “How come you pulled this stunt on me following all this time?” I questioned.
“I merely wanted fairness for the business and the people working for us,” he stated. “You merely wanted a method to wipe me out of our big win,” I answered. “I felt terrified I was going to waste the remainder of my years over a fake story this afternoon,” I murmured.
“I made absolutely zero choices like that and you were well aware,” I stated. “The guy with the gavel got ready to step back to his seat finally,” he pointed out.
“Even our little girl quit calling me Mom simply because of your tales,” I mentioned. “Nobody is able to fault her following your actions,” he replied. “I pulled zero moves to cause her or our wonderful family any pain,” I wept.
“You turned into a basic crook from her point of view,” he stated. “You were the exact person who planted that thought inside her brain,” I shot back. “I simply handed her the real facts of the police search,” he answered.
“The public viewed a robber the moment they stared at you,” he stated. “I viewed a guy who sold out his partner over cash,” I replied. “I already made my peace that I might lose every single thing,” I owned up to it.
“I continued to trust that fairness was going to pull through,” I stated. “Fairness was the exact thing taking place inside this room,” he shot back.
“I pitched in to help you grow that computer giant starting from zero,” I mentioned. “It wrapped up with the robber heading exactly to the spot she fit into,” he replied. “In what way did you break this down for our boy Max?” I questioned.
“He was barely a walking baby the day you locked me up,” I stated. “He matured free from the dark cloud of your bad acts,” he answered.
I glared at Colin, yet he refused to lock eyes with me right as the boss grabbed his wood hammer.
His chin remained stiff, yet his digits continued hitting the wood surface, a shaky beat I picked up on during our years together. He constantly pulled that move whenever he faked a story and waited around for folks to buy it.
I spun my face and spotted a tiny person stepping down the middle walking space. It happened to be my boy, Max.
His cheeks looked totally white yet his vision stayed locked right on my face. He marched straight by the security guys and stopped directly beside my seat.
“Max, how come you are in this place?” I murmured.
“I was unable to allow them to keep doing this to you,” he stated.
“You must head right back outdoors beside your aunt,” I told him.
“Nope,” he replied.
Colin smacked his hands flat onto the wood and jumped to his feet.
He shifted his body close to my head so merely I was able to catch his words.
“Mom, the individual who set you up is waiting inside this very room,” he spoke softly.
I sensed an icy chill travel right down my back.
“Max, what exactly are you talking about?” I let out a breath.
“I spotted him inside your work room during that evening,” he stated.
“I watched him grab the paper pad holding your secret codes,” he threw in.
