A Rude Guest Tried to Drive My Crying Granddaughter Away—Then a Waiter Handed Him a Gift from His Past

Part Five: Asked to Leave

Patricia faced Anthony.

“Mr. Anthony, several members of my staff witnessed the way you spoke to this family.”

He crossed his arms.

“I expressed a reasonable complaint.”

“You insulted a grandmother who was comforting a distressed baby. You also frightened two young children and pressured their family to leave a facility they had every right to enjoy.”

“I am a paying guest.”

“So are they.”

Anthony looked toward me again.

Grace had finally stopped crying. She rested weakly against my shoulder, her tiny fist curled around the fabric of my blouse.

Dolly held my hand.

Sophie remained wrapped around my leg.

Patricia’s expression softened briefly when she looked at us. Then she turned back to Anthony.

“I recognized your name when you checked in,” she said. “When I realized who you were, I hoped you were still the compassionate man in that photograph.”
